Kia Picanto 2025 Full Review — Features, Mileage & Driving Experience

The Kia Picanto isn’t new in the market. It first showed up back in early 2000s but now, it's a different beast. This latest version? A city car. Compact, sharp, kinda cheeky. In Pakistan and other Asian markets, Picanto is like that underdog fighter. It doesn't scream power. But it sure knows how to hustle in tight streets.

Kia designed it mainly for urban users. Small families. Solo office goers. Students maybe. People who want a tiny partner that can squeeze anywhere. The Picanto offers different variants. Most common? The automatic 1.0-liter and manual 1.0-liter versions. Some markets even get a 1.2-liter.

First Impressions

First time I saw it up close, it felt playful. Bright colors — Red, Blue, Yellow, and classic White. It got a kinda “happy face” front grille. Those big headlights give it an innocent but ready-for-action kinda look.

You open the door, it feels light. I mean, really light. Some people might say cheap, but I think it’s fine for city runabouts. Step in and you feel like you are in a bubble. Compact. Tight. But somehow, not very claustrophobic.

When I started the engine, it hummed softly. No angry roar. Just a polite “hello” kinda start. You instantly know it ain't no race car. And that’s okay.

Interior & Comfort

Let’s get inside properly now.

First thing, the seats. They look simple. Basic fabric. But comfortable enough for short city hops. If you planning a long Lahore to Islamabad ride? Your back might protest. But for daily jams and quick grocery runs, seats are totally fine.

Dashboard is clean. Not too many buttons to confuse you. Center console got a basic infotainment system. In some higher variants, you get a small screen with Bluetooth connectivity, USB, and sometimes even Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Plastic quality? Well, it's hard plastic mostly. Feels sturdy but not luxurious. Honestly, for the price, we shouldn’t expect Mercedes-level materials.

Rear seat space is decent. Two adults can sit easily. Three? Possible but they will fight for elbow space. The boot space? Around 255 liters. Enough for a couple grocery bags, school bag, maybe a small suitcase.

Air conditioning. Man, it’s powerful. Pakistani summers can melt you. But Picanto’s AC fights back bravely.

Driving Experience

Time to hit the road.

On city roads, it feels nimble. Steering is light. You can turn it with one hand while checking your phone — not recommended though! Parking? Super easy. You see small gaps and think, “Yup, I can fit.” And most times, you actually do.

Acceleration? Don’t expect rocket vibes. With a 1.0-liter engine pushing out around 68 horsepower, it's designed more for patience than for power. But once you get used to its gentle personality, you start enjoying it.

Brakes are responsive. The suspension is on the stiffer side. So, on potholes or rough patches, you might feel every bump. But on smooth roads, it feels steady.
Highway? Well… let’s just say it’s not its favorite place. At higher speeds (above 100 km/h), it starts feeling floaty. You’ll hear wind noises too. Overtaking big trucks? Better plan early.

Mileage & Fuel Efficiency

A major plus point.

In city driving, you can expect around 14-16 km/l depending on your foot. On highways, it gives good mileage around 18 km/l if you drive gentle.
It have about 35 liters Fuel tank capacity. Which means its covers a decent distance without worrying about refueling.
For students, small families, or anyone hating petrol pumps? This is a blessing.

Features & Tech

Picanto isn’t flooded with tech, but it’s got the essentials.

• Power windows
• Power steering
• Keyless entry (in higher trims)
• Rear camera in some variants
• Simple infotainment system
• Steering mounted controls (sometimes optional)

No sunroof. No fancy automatic climate control. No electronic parking brake. But again, it sticks to basics. Sometimes, simple is smart. Less to break. Less to fix. Safety? It gets dual front airbags, ABS, and in some regions, even stability control. But don’t expect 5-star crash ratings. Drive safe. Always.

Variants and Colours

In Pakistan, mostly you find two variants:

• Manual transmission
• Automatic transmission

Both Variants provides 1.0 liter engine power.

Color options? You got options like Clear White, Milky Beige, Honey Bee Yellow, Titanium Silver, Aurora Black, and more.

Advantages & Disadvantages

Advantages
:

• Great fuel economy.
• Affordable maintenance.
• Strong AC.
• Cute design.

Disadvantages:

• Limited power.
• Stiff suspension on rough roads.
• Basic interior materials.
• Limited highway confidence.
• No advanced safety tech.

Personal Opinion

After spending a full day with it, my mind shifted a bit. At first, I thought it was just another budget car. But slowly, it felt like a loyal pet.
It doesn’t try to impress you with crazy features or sporty behavior. Instead, it says, “Hop in. Let’s go for a calm ride. I’ll save you fuel and slip through traffic like a cat.”
If I had to buy a city car for my everyday runs, this would be on my list. Because in city battles, small and smart wins over big and loud.

Summary

The Kia Picanto is for those who want peace in chaos. It’s not meant to race at every red light or zoom past everyone on GT Road.
It’s meant for slow mornings. Tight parking lots. Grocery store visits. College runs. A true city companion.
Affordable, simple, friendly.
I feel it’s an underrated gem in our market. It does what it promises. No false bragging. No over-exaggeration. Just pure, honest service.
Cars are like friends. Some are flashy and loud. Some are chill and humble. The Picanto? Its Humble.
I step out. Close the door gently. Look back once more. Smile. This small fella got my respect today.
